CNY IACI PROGRAM:
IRISH MUSIC

Throughout history, music has been an important part of Irish life. It is a living tradition, which has been handed down from generation to generation. In their commitment to the support of Irish culture, the CNY chapter sponsors a weekly meeting of musicians, aspiring musicians and music lovers dedicated to keeping this tradition alive by sharing their knowledge of Irish music. Some bring an old favorite instrument while others have learned a new instrument. On any given night you will hear some combination of whistles, bodhráns, fiddles, flutes, piano, guitars, banjos, harmonicas, concertinas, and maybe even a harp

Music Notes from Lee Baleno:

The summer is flying by and it’s time to think about getting back to our Monday night music sessions. I have again reserved the Community room at Rockwell Elementary School in Nedrow from 7:00 to 9:00, or so. Anyone is welcome to come regardless of his or her playing ability. We try to work on a variety of tunes so there is something for everyone. We also try to offer some one-on-one or small group help to those just starting out. Our goal is to spread the knowledge and enjoyment of traditional Irish music to anyone who is interested.

I am planning of starting on Monday, September 15th. If you have any questions, want more information or need directions you may contact me via phone [(315) 492-2795] or e-mail [lbaleno@twcny.rr.com].
